In July this year The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published opinions on the reference intakes of vitamin E (α-tocopherol), vitamin B12 (cobalamin), magnesium and phosphorus. These opinions are the result of years of research carried out on a large group of probands. In the near future there will also be opinions on the reference intakes of iron and copper. These works are part of an update of nutritional and energy requirements specified by the European Commission in 1993.
